A century of family history

The beginning
Ca’ Lumacheto is a country estate of 20 hectares owned by the Mini family since the mid 1800s and was established by the current owners' great grandfather. The first inhabitants, thanks to strong breeding and farming, were almost self sufficient. At the time even the land at the top of the property, poor and steep, was used for agriculture.

The second post war period
Small farmers can no longer sustain themselves with their own produce. The mountains are gradually abandoned by the population who prefers the easier life of the city. The inhabitants of Ca’ Lumacheto follow the general trend starting careers out of agriculture. However they modernised earlier farming methods by building new sheds to accomodate modern poultry farming.

The Eighties and the Nineties
Ca’ Lumacheto turns into a small manufacture centre relying on the printing works offered by the local typography “Poligrafico Cappelli”. The sheds previously built are redesigned to lodge tools and machines used books finishing. This new business bring the income to invest in new roads and refurbishment of the building.

Nowadays
Ca’ Lumacheto goes back to organic agriculture and moves in to tourism. The owners are now privately farming fruits and vegetables (mainly olive trees), while the younger generation has opened the B&B to create an informal and inviting retreat to be enjoyed by the weary traveller and those simply wanting to get away from it all.
